  1. Anyway, why does ‘Maazi’ call my citing Bahati ‘gay propaganda’? I was only reporting what he has said …

(Maybe ‘Maazi’ feels that Bahati has gone ‘off script’, and is annoyed with him? And I have this image of ‘Maazi’ as a caged bird squawking ‘gay propaganda, gay propaganda, gay propaganda’!)

Here’s some more on Bahati’s chagrin:-

‘ As for Mr. Bahati, orphaned at the age of 3 and until recently a relatively unknown politician, the past several years have been a roller-coaster-ride of emotions, from obscurity to fame and infamy. The American news media, he said, have shredded his reputation.

‘ “They really worked out on the word ‘death,’ ” he said, referring to coverage of the bill’s death penalty provision. “We used to have friends in America, but most of them are now scared even to identify with us.”

‘ It was in the United States, Mr. Bahati contended, that he first became close with a group of influential social conservatives, including politicians, known as The Fellowship, which would later become a base of inspiration and technical support for the anti-homosexuality bill.

‘ Mr. Bahati said the idea for the bill first sprang from a conversation with members of The Fellowship in 2008, because it was “too late” in America to propose such legislation. Now, he said, he feels abandoned.

‘ “In Africa we value friendship,” Mr. Bahati said. “But the West is different.” ‘

Of course, by ‘friendship’, Bahati means ‘keep supporting me, even when I’m being evil’. As for his ‘reputation’, Bahati himself was the prime ‘shedder’ – he was greedy and stupid, and is now paying the price.

  2. Frankly, ‘Maazi’, we won’t be personally greatly affected either way.

If the Bill falls, we will be pleased for those whom the Bill is designed to persecute, and for Uganda generally. If it goes through, the fact of its passage will be used to provide fresh impetus to the campaign against homophobia and for human rights.

The effects of the Bill will be – indeed are being – felt primarily by you.

  3. (My point is that – when I make my case – I am able to use BAHATI’S OWN WORDS to do it! People like ‘Maazi NCO MP’ have some serious thinking to do.)

  4. By the way, ECUSA has vested interest interest in sowing gay propaganda across the African continent. Therefore, your provision of a report written by an ECUSA clergyman of Zambian origin is not proof of anything serious. It is merely proof that there are a few Africans willing and happy to collaborate with Western hedonists

  5. What evidence do you have that ECUSA ‘has [a] vested interest in sowing gay propaganda across the African continent’? Are you able to point to specific activities that demonstrate this? And why would they want to do specifically this? Have they been ‘selective’ when it comes to which bishops they support, and can you prove this? (The Church of Uganda has actually turned down ‘non-selective’ ECUSA support and chosen to rely on the ‘selective’ support of their anti-gay ‘friends’, and this has impacted negatively on its financial position – so I’m told by someone ‘in the know’.)

(You should also remember that asking for fair treatment of people regardless of their sexuality cannot be described as ‘promoting gay propaganda’. It is simply ‘asking for fair treatment’.)

You see, it IS possible to point to the activities of people like Scott Lively in promoting anti-gay propaganda. His activities in this regard are very well documented.

  6. So you say I’m lying. Prove it! (I’ve always provided evidence when I’ve said that you’ve been ‘economical with the truth’. But I know that ‘providing evidence’ is not YOUR strong point!)

What is there to prove?? It is obvious to sane people that the Bahati Bill has nothing to do with your imaginary White supremacists. The Bahati Bill is a “made-in-Uganda” product and now the indestructible property of a proud parliament.

  7. OK – so he has responded … with an ‘evidence free’ statement based on assumption and supposition. Still no surprise.

  8. No response from ‘Maazi NCO MP’! Now there’s a surprise! (Apologise for the sarcasm.)

  9. A reminder of a comprehensive report by the Zambian priest, Father Kapya Kaoma, blah, blah, blah

I have heard of this “Reverend” Kapya Kaoma. He is a Zambian clergyman affiliated to the pro-gay liberal political party known as ECUSA (Ecumenical Church of USA). The man is merely contributing the usual token “African Face” to gay propganda churned out by Western hedonists. Nobody takes what he says seriously in the African Continent.

It is of course in the interests of ‘white supremacists’ to promote violence, hatred and division among Africans – classic ‘divide and rule/exploit’ tactics

This is gay propaganda at its worst. While you are at it, why not accuse Josef Stalin of rising from the dead to personally instruct David Bahati on how to write the anti-gay bill

  10. A further comment: the late David Kato was himself an educator, and there was never any suggestion that children in his care were not safe.

Actually, there were complaints and allegations from parents/guardians and he was fired from his job as a school teacher.

  11. I’m gong to contact the Oxford English Dictionary, and suggest that they include a new entry:-

‘Gay propaganda’ = a (truthful) statement with which ‘Maazi NCO’ does not agree.

OF COURSE these extremists have their own agenda, and if violence and hatred in Uganda is promoted by pursuing that agenda, THEY COULDN’T CARE LESS, as long as they can pursue their ‘culture war’. They are not doing what they do for Uganda or Ugandans – they are doing it for themselves. It’s just so obvious! Getting their proxies to promote their agenda is their top priority, and all else must be subordinated to it. Why on earth can’t the likes of ‘Maazi NCO’ (who, despite appearances, is not stupid) cannot see that?

  12. Oh yes? And from the children?

(When homophobia is rampant, false allegations against gays are often made.)

  13. The situation in Liberia has become more complex, with two sets of gay-bashing proposals now apparently in play: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5i2KeDdLT_-FR0sUN-aIO9ewdsqXA?docId=4a88d96c2b5349c2a569285805237174

I wish Liberian parliamentarians good luck. If their wimp of a President fails to sign any of the anti-gay bill into law or vetoes it because she is too afraid of Uncle Sam and being stripped of her controversial Nobel Prize, then they should muster the required two-thirds majority in parliament and override her faux objections and pass the bill into law. Hopefully, other African nations will rise up and stick it to Cameron , Obama, Harper and their gay propagandist lobby clients

  16. The petition now has over 203,298 out of 300,000 signatures

Even if you chaps manipulate the online petition to get 30 million signatures. Parliament will still pass that bill. If Barclays and Citibank bow to gay sex militants and pull out, they will be promptly replaced by banks from alternative investors itching to go in. I am talking of the South Africans, Nigerians, Turks, South Koreans, Brazilians, Indians and Chinese. Let these corporations go ahead and shoot themselves in the foot.

An encouraging response. But I do think that the big news just now is Bahati’s ‘confession’ (“I was set up, then dumped, by right-wing extremists in the USA”) buried in a NY Times article, blah, blah, blah

    Gay propaganda !!!

Sensible NRM bigwigs may now wish to reappraise the situation (they will have known this for a long time, of course

“Sensible” bigwigs in NRM know better than to annoy the sovereign parliament of Uganda. In any case, there is unanimity across political party lines on what needs to be done with the Bahati Bill. You lot will be hearing from us when we are ready.

It’s what many of us been saying all along, of course, but hearing it from Bahati himself is … refreshing. It also shows that Bahati may feel ‘betrayed’ – understandably in a way. But these extremists don’t give a damn about Bahati or Uganda. Their interest in solely in their own ‘culture wars’ agenda.

Bahati’s admission has, I suspect, raised one or two (quite senior) eyebrows in Kampala … Sensible NRM bigwigs may now wish to reappraise the situation (they will have known this for a long time, of course – M7’s security boys are pretty good – but the fact that the ‘confession’ has been made, and reported, is important*) …

    * It’s the old ‘they-know-that-we-know-that-they-know’ thing!

  20. And just in case anyone is tempted to believe that M7’s claim that ‘gays are not persecuted’, there’s this:-

‘ “In the past … were stoned to death,” said the minister, Simon Lokodo. “In my own culture they are fired on by the firing squad …” ‘

So Bahati likes hanging, while Lokodo prefers shooting. What a charming pair!

(Simon Lokodo is M7’s hand-picked choice to lead on ‘ethics’.)

” Mr. Bahati said the idea for the bill first sprang from a conversation with members of The Fellowship in 2008, because it was “too late” in America to propose such legislation. Now, he said, he feels abandoned. ”

There we go. Those ‘whit extremists’ duped Bahati, then dumped him. Typical!

Time to dump the Bill too, I’d say.

  30. ‘Gay propaganda’ = a (truthful) statement with which ‘Maazi NCO’ does not agree.

No gay propaganda is a form of sophisticated talk riddled with falsehoods, half truths and paints plausible (but fallacious) scenarios designed to influence the attitude of people (especially the gullible and the impressionable) towards having a favourable opinion of gayism.

  31. Oh yes? And from the children?

It is precisely the suspicion, hatred and violence generated by things like the Bahati Bill that enable those who would exploit Uganda to do so.)

  37. A reminder of a comprehensive report by the Zambian priest, Father Kapya Kaoma, on the role of (white supremacist?) extreme right wing ‘christian’ Americans on the recent rise in homophobia and in violent and discriminatory proposed legislation tergeting LGBT people: http://www.publiceye.org/publications/globalizing-the-culture-wars/pdf/africa-full-report.pdf

It is curious that many ‘bahatites’ now talk as if they are responding to ‘western provocation’. Actually, it is completely the other way round: Bahati and his allies (which include extremists from ‘the West’) ‘fired the first shots’; western governments, human rights campaigners and large swathes of western public opinion are merely responding to those attacks on innocent people. And that response – which will always, I hope and believe, be non-violent and proportionate – will continue for as long as is necessary.

It could be that Bahati and his cronies have started rather more than they bargained for.

  38. Anyway, it seems that Bahati himself is not happy with his extreme right wing ‘friends’ in the West. From a recent new report:-

  43. Sorry, the penultimate sentence should read as follows:-

“There has been no proven (or even suspected?) case of a LGBT human rights activist having abused children, by the way.”

A further comment: the late David Kato was himself an educator, and there was never any suggestion that children in his care were not safe.

  44. The petition is not addressed to the Ugandan Parliament, but to corporations based in the west. It may well be the first of several.

Meanwhile, here’s an interesting bit of commentary: http://globalcomment.com/2012/%E2%80%9Cwe-must-protect-the-children%E2%80%9D-the-homophobia-diversion-in-corrupt-uganda/

The ‘protecting children’ propaganda line is completely bogus, of course. As has been amply demonstrated on this blog, if the Ugandan authorities really wanted to protect children (as opposed to bashing gays), then they already have the means to do it. There has been no proven (or even suspected?) case of a LGBT human rights having abusing children, by the way. Organizations like SMUG have made clear their total opposition to child abuse.
