Kayser endorsement flap not having much impact on Iowa campaign

Several national news outlets covered the Phil Kayser endorsement story this week, but it may not be having much impact in Iowa.

I spoke earlier today with another pastor who has endorsed Ron Paul, Brian Nolder, who said that the big stories there are the Kent Sorenson defection and to a lesser degree Ron Paul’s newsletters from the 1980s and 1990s.

Rev. Nolder, who does not hold the same theonomic views as Phil Kayser, had heard of the matter but did not think it was having much impact on the campaign at present.

According to Nolder, evangelicals in Iowa are divided between those who want top down solutions to moral issues and those who want a smaller Federal government. He has opted to support Dr. Paul because he believes Paul has better solutions to our dept crisis. Many Christians are gravitating to Santorum because those Christians want the Federal government to reflect Christian morality, something they perceive Santorum to favor.

Earlier this week, I noted that Paul himself may not hold theonomic views himself but is attractive to Christian reconstructionists because they want to see the dismantling of a strong Federal government.

One group that might experience difficulty because of Kayser’s endorsement is his own church. A group called Progressive Oasis is calling on the University of Nebraska at Omaha to stop the Dominion Covenant Church from meeting on University grounds.

  1. I received n e-mail back from the Chancellor which I will share,

“Thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention. The University of Nebraska at Omaha does not rent space to the organization you have identified. It is my understanding that they may rent space from the Alumni Association which supports campus programs and students, but is an independent organization located on private property. In other words, this a non-university entity.

The Alumni Association does fine work on behalf of UNO students and programs as well as providing strong and meaningful connections, programs, and activities for approximately 100,000 UNO Alums across the globe. Their facility is rented to public agencies/organizations and individuals for a variety of meetings, weddings, and community functions as a matter day-to-day business and service to the metropolitan area. The facility is also made available for campus use supporting a wide range of University business and activities.

I trust this clarifies the issue of concern as it relates to the campus.

    John”

I am going to write back to him and ask him to use his influence with the Alumni Center.

Use this link for contact information and for goodness sake send an e-mail or make a phone call at the least!!!!

We talk, and talk, and talk, over here at Warren’s website. When we encounter evil, it is on us to fight it, to take action, not to sit on our hands here and simply discuss it !!!

Come on people, we simply must protest against a University who permits a one man HATE GROUP on their campus who advocates the execution of homosexuals. We can ALL send an e-mail to the Chancellor or make a call. The contact information on where to do that is is here

Thank you Warren very much for providing the link to Progressive Oasis.

  6. M.Worrel, Dunno about that. When they band together they can be quite a crowd. Aren’t these people part of that whole Lou Engles crowd? They may not have numbers like the Catholics but what they have going is that their followers are very fervent and and action oriented. They will spend hours standing on a street corner holding a sign or distributing flyers. The more I read over here on Warren’s website the more my eyes have been opened.

  7. Christian reconstructionists are kooks residing way, way out on the fringe, and I really do not think most people have time to focus on what kooks say, think, or do until it really impacts their life. I’m not being dismissive; how many people cared in the slightest what Muslim extremists were all about until 9/11? I didn’t. But I’m still having difficulty seeing reconstructionists as anything more than an irrelevant oddity.
