Uganda’s Rolling Stone editor speaks to CNN (video)

Giles Muhame’s interview with CNN – where he says gays have no privacy and he hopes that the police investigates the gays and hangs them.

This is very similar to arguments offered by Martin Ssempa early on when the Anti-Homosexuality Bill was offered in late 2009. In his view, gays are doing illegal things in private so there is no private consensual behavior to protect.

According to the Rolling Stone editors, the paper will come out tomorrow (or Saturday according to one of them) with part two of the “hang them” campaign.

  1. Martin Ridley,

I wish you were Ugandan to understand this whole issue of homosexuality. Unfortunately, you are an ignorant creature hidden somewhere in EU nations. While I donot agree with Muhame’s approach of “Hang Them”, it is very stupid of you to say South Africa should lead the way in banning him. Who is South Africa and does it control the AU like how US controls UN. SA respects the cultures and constitutions set in each African nation. When Rwanda went into exile where was the US/ EU to support save those innocent victims??

Secondly not every African pants for EU nations. Please grow up and get to know that Africa is developing, Africa is increasingly becoming independent. Uganda funds 75% of her National Budget. I am cool with you keeping your Euro/pound under your pillow. Please withhold it, I do no want it. I am satisfied with what we have.

Martin, you are an extremist. Yes, our nation has ever experienced violence. What about US, England, Italy etc that caused significant human rights violations in Iraq and Afghanistan? What would you say of that? Our constitution bans such depraved acts like homosexuality. It has never been a human right and it will never be in any of our cultures in Uganda. Please style up and accept the stand of our nation. You guys are excellent at propaganda but it won’t help in any way.

  2. This guy Giles Muhame should never be allowed into any EU country, he is a dangerous extremist who has put people lives at risk and his views are beyond the pale

    Martin Ridley,

I may agree with your statement that Muhame’s way of doing things is quite extreme. But you are foolish to think that all Africans are dying to come to the EU. It has been widely reported in Uganda that the EU plans to bar Bahati from Europe if the bill becomes law. But has that stopped David Bahati?

South Africa should set an example for Africa by saying he is banned.

South Africa will do no such thing. On issues of gayism on the international scene, the South African government has a policy of “No approval, No disapproval and Neutrality”. South Africa did not sign the 2008 UN Declaration on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity. But then it did not sign the counter-declaration rejecting “gay rights”, which was sponsored by most countries in the Middle East, Africa and parts of Caribbean and Asia. In the African Union (AU), South Africa respects the majority view on this subject matter.

I for one do not want my taxes going as aid to this country.

If it makes you sleep better at night, please keep your pennies to yourself and encourage other Westerners to do the same. Thank you.

  3. This guy Giles Muhame should never be allowed into any EU country, he is a dangerous extremist who has put people lives at risk and his views are beyond the pale. South Africa should set an example for Africa by saying he is banned. Uganda a country which has experienced significant appalling violence seems to have learnt nothing from the violations of its citizens human rights – I for one do not want my taxes going as aid to this country.

  4. When is there going to be a well-funded Evangelical group that is at least as equally strident in condemnation of hatred and extra-judicial execution of gays as it is for homosexuality? Just one?

    Zoe,

I am sure that the euro-american gay lobby with the help of gay bishops in the Episcopal Church of America can create a fake evangelical group that will preach that sodomy is one of the greatest virtues in the world.

  5. I honestly think it’s the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam — which I think is a big threat, okay? Cause what’s happening now is they are going after, in schools, two-year olds…And this stuff is deadly, and it’s spreading, and it will destroy our young people, it will destroy this nation

  6. He’s not saying anything some US politicians in power aren’t saying.

    Sally Kern comes to mind.

And yes, the majority of Evangelical groups say the same thing. That’s not to say the majority of Evangelicals think that way, they don’t. But yes, Liberty University, AFTAH, FOTF, FRC, all the myriad local “Citzens for this” or “Citizens for that” groups that are on the frontline of the Culture Wars, they do. And with very, very few exceptions (such as yourself) Evangelicals may object in muted tones, but mostly keep silent.

When is there going to be a well-funded Evangelical group that is at least as equally strident in condemnation of hatred and extra-judicial execution of gays as it is for homosexuality? Just one?

He is saying they should be put to death for being gay. Don’t know of ANY US politicians saying that.

  8. Ken –

Segments of the Council for National Policy do.

CNP member R.J. Rushdoony is the “father of Christian Reconstructionism” and president of Chalcedon, a Vallecito, California based nonprofit group, that teaches that every aspect of society must come under biblical law. This includes the death penalty for “practicing homosexuals,” abortionists, heretics, blasphemers, and even disobedient sons.

Most politicians don’t say so openly, but advocate for making homosexual conduct illegal (penalties undefined), and de-criminalising any opposition – including assault or murder – to homosexuality.

See for example the Texas Republican party platform on that. Quite a few Texan GOP members have resigned over that issue, they consider this part of the official platform to be despicable.

Maybe some time before Jesus comes back. When pigs fly. Or hell freezes over.
