  3. I’ve known men AND women who have been opportunistic when it comes to sex – I hate to just slap that label onto one gender – even if one may or may not deserve it more than the other.

    Yes, you are right but I think the arrow points more toward men in this regard 🙂 Men are instinctively more interested in sex first – but often have to do all the things required (court, etc.) to attain it – women are more interested in security and love first and many times have sex with men to achieve it.

    You may be right, but something about what you are saying sounds awfully familiar – it may be that researchers have already been down this road.

    OH, I believe there is a scientific explanation out there – and like so many of us have said and agreed on before, its most likely a combination of genetic AND environmental factors.

    I wasn’t joking. Men start out essentially female in the womb. Genetic experiments on mice have shown that at least some of the female wiring (if not all) is present in males, but lies dormant. I wish I had a link handy because there are a lot of different studies on this.

    It is not a stretch to assume that SSA/OSA could be a result of this phenomenon. In gay men somehow the “straight” wiring doesn’t get installed or is turned off and the mind defaults to SSA. If an old, straight guy turns gay that might be something interesting to look into.

    I believe this line of thought (and I didn’t think of it) is largely on the right track. SSA certainly isn’t caused by evil spirits. 😎 There is a logical, scientific explanation out there somewhere.

  9. And let’s not forget that men tend to be ‘opportunistic’ when it comes to sex. The advice doctor hinted at that possibility. The guy is older. Likely has had a very satisfying life with his spouse and doesn’t want to replace her. Yet his libido is still intact. The ‘any port in a storm’ mentality is more pervasive than many believe.

    Men are wired up female? Not if you talk to any gay man I know. There is absolutely no proof that men are “wired” for the female – unless you’re straight, that is!

    Everything wears out over time. Why not the part of the brain responsible for sex preference? Men are wired up female until Mother Nature works her magic. If the “straight” wiring wears out the brain might default to homosexual. This would simply be the original, female programming taking over.

    I take it you were joking but just in case, you need to understand that the guy asking the question in the article has no same-sex attractions – it was, as was stated, a rather academic question. That is assuming even he was serious, lol.

    I’m guessing you didn’t have much time to devote to a post, eh Warren 🙂

    Old, straight guys that turn gay are probably rare. But there could be some good info in there.
