It tells us to find one person and love him (quite unequally). My next one isn&#039;t your next one and mustn&#039;t be! Mr. Hill&#039;s next one must neither be my next one nor your next one. That&#039;s the nice thing with southern nationalism - it is not totalitarian, it doesn&#039;t oblige all and everyone to follow the same drummer..
On the other hand, the idea of the &quot;Proposition Nation&quot; IS totalitarian. It&#039;s a variant of the confessional or ideological nationalism which became popular with the French Jacobines and it means that you can be a good citizen only if you stick to the ruling doctrine. Which, paradoxically, implies that, people can NOT be treated equally - the opponents of the ruling doctrine must be treated worse, the adherents better.]]></description>
