It also had line item veto, and included some aspects of the Articles of Confederation to weaken the central government and strengthen the states. It prohibited amendment to eliminate slavery.
Contrary to views of the League of the South, it retained the U.S. constitution’s 1st Amendment and Title VI of the original document barring religious tests to hold office.
The course disapproves of Court interpretation of the constitution. That does fit with the 1860s Confederacy, which due to its short life during a war never stood up its Supreme Court. So their court never reviewed statues or interpreted the Confederate constitution.
There is no possibility the Confederate constitution could have been a lasting document. Its weak central government in part led to “The Lost Cause.” As with the Articles of Confederation, it was hard to raise funds and troops to maintain an army and navy. It would have had to have been replaced to bring the inevitable end to slavery.
