This is just wrong

According to this report, a group of young LGB activists raided the Bachmann clinic and threw glitter all over the waiting room.
How pranky.
While there were no clients in the waiting room, there could have been.
I hope real GLB groups condemn this kind of faux activism. One way to halt a self-fulfilling prophecy is not to fulfill it.
Now that I have seen the video (now posted at the link above), I am more sure that this is the kind of thing that will make martyrs out of the Bachmanns.

  1. Very stupid. But they’re very young. At least they’re not murdering doctors or threatening young women trying to get help.

  3. Ken,

And for the record I think what these “activists” did is childish and inappropriate.

    I agree wholeheartedly!
    Mary,

Do you know how annoying it is to vacuum glitter out of office carpet??? It takes weeks if not months.

    LOL 🙂

I wonder how many decades “Dr.” Marcus Bachmann’s clients will have to spend with REAL therapists to get over the harm that quack causes.

  6. I was surprised how harmless and lighthearted their video showed it to be

Tickling is also a form of abuse if applied in the wrong spirit.

  7. Meh. Having heard this protest described as a glitter attack, I assumed this was protest like an Act Up stunt of the early 90s. I was surprised how harmless and lighthearted their video showed it to be. The “horde” entered, asked to meet the clinic’s leader, made their point, and left the premises when asked. The horde seemed respectful and the glitter seems inadvertent. Considering how depressing most clinic waiting rooms are, I think bringing a little joy to a bleak, condemning counseling practice would be a nice diversion.

  11. I am ashamed of their actions. Glittering a politician is one thing, but this guy is another. I agree with my “gaydar”, and my peers that Marcus Bachmann, could be, COULD BE gay. With the hullabaloo caused by Wayne Besen and Truthwinsout, and their undercover investigation, I still think this helps no one. All this did was add fuel for the fire that Michele and her husband are going to soon light over this.
It pains me to this kinda of silliness take place. All they were looking for is some kinda recognition, and 15 mins of fame. However, innocuous it appears, they’ve actually made us look bad.
No doubt that WND, the Tea Party Nation, Fox, and a whole host of others are going to sensationalize this childish act.

  12. At least they didn’t behave with the same violence that is usual for “pro-Life” activists.
I think it was silly too. But there’s a double-standard here, and that should be pointed out.

  15. That kind of childishness helps the Bachmann’s more than it hurts them. At the very least, I would hope TWO condemns this action. However, I’m not going to hold my breath waiting for it.
