Choosing not to answer any questions about why Mark Driscoll was invited to speak at a leadership conference in May of 2021, despite the 2o14 debacle and what looks perilously close to repeating the same mistakes at his new church, is odd, and not encouraging about Mr. Wood's direction in his new role at Saddleback Church. If he doesn't have time--or worse, doesn't choose to explain himself, what else is he not going to choose to explain? It isn't a good look, and not a good practice.

She's tapping into a rich vein of corruption and abuse of power that's rarely been explored by the mainstream press, and never in a systematic way.

She's also a rare (perhaps unique) example of a conservative evangelical journalist who is not out to score political points against the left and is willing to follow the story no matter where it leads. What's more, she isn't afraid to take on powerful establishment evangelicals.

As a lefty atheist I have absolutely nothing in common with Roys politically or religiously, but I have the utmost respect for her honesty, tenacity, and integrity when it comes to her journalism.

Julie Roys isn't letting up on Andy Wood. She's published the first half of a two-part report on Wood's efforts to act like a corporate raider, attempting to plunder struggling churches with smaller elderly congregations of their high value assets while keeping the church's denominational organization out of the loop.
