No, while US christians may have lobbied for A law initially, it didn’t lobby for THIS law because it went to far, by implementing a death penalty.

Many of the pro same-sex marriage people would point to the Ugandan law and argue that was the end result of “legislating your religious views about gays.” further, it wasn’t some “theoretical argument” but an actual law that they were trying to pass.

It also got used in arguments about “sharia laws” being used in other countries (and ridiculous claims muslims were trying to get it implemented in the US).

I think we all still need to be ready to burst into action again, although I do get a sense that people like Scott Lively, for all their continued foaming at the mouth, are probably not going to stick out their necks so far in future.
