It depends on what a person believes, the Constitution made laws to protect the individual, our society is now wanting to take away individual rights to protect different communities of people. It's a world perspective, do you believe in individual rights or the community's rights. The bible was considered by some (and still is) to hold truth therefore it was/is a north star to guide peoples decisions whether a law maker or making decisions for ones self or family which I believe upholds individual rights. Now things are moving to be done by group consensus, which is fine as long as you are not on the other side of the majority group or the group in power. If it's community rights over individual then one day one thing can be good a true and the next day the opposite, it depends on the culture not on some absolute truth of right and wrong. I believe we should be thankful for the Constitution and it's good to thank God for it, if people don't well that's their right.

I’m all in on [Throckmorton] point of view, but am sufficiently impressed with the title of Deputy Historian of the U.S. House of Representatives to feel gratitude for the contribution. What an interesting job that must be! Thank you!

I don't think there is a connection in a political sense. There is no covenant between the US and God. God had a conditional covenant with Israel but doesn't with the US. Providence is what it is and God has his purposes which are beyond my understanding.

it would likely never pass today. (Thanksgiving)

interesting to read your point of view, and I wondered if you feel that our nation has continued in spite of it’s past acknowledgement of God, or if you think as many others, that it has continued because of it’s acknowledgement of God.
