In reply to David Rahrer. The real issue isn't what Trump will/won't do, but what will it take to get Congress to do their job and check him. And sadly it looks like he will have to do a LOT of damage before they do anything.

And all of this makes Putin rather happy… I haven’t done it yet, but a friend keeps pointing me back to Trumps Russian trips in the 80’s/90’s? Whether or not he’s actually on their roll… they did learn from watching him, what a useful idiot he could be. (And I’m not a commie/red-phobe; I really wish we could have better relations with Russia, but not like this… a relationship where some mutual, adult-like accountability and bettering of each other was part of it… that’s not what is happening now.) Rather two extreme narcissists have “bonded” but the one is devilishly smart/savvy, the other is a petty, groveling sycophant… Ironic how trump’s relationship to Putin mirrors what he (trump) expects from others around him close to home.

The truly scary part is how much worse things can still get under this man’s presidency. Let’s hope most of it is under the category of “things that can be fixed in the future if someone with character is ever again elected.” It is certainly not for those who have died.

Still needs doing, but we’re a monoculture here, not reaching anyone who is a Trump fan.

What can we do that is constructive?

Warren, I’ve been on your site(s) through all the various migrations. At the beginning, we disagreed on a lot, the only things we had in common were intellectual honesty, the willingness to discard cherished beliefs if the evidence showed those beliefs were unjustified.

We are now much closer to being in accord. On Trans issues, not so much, but I know all I have to do there is give you more evidence, including showing where some sources you still trust in this area are just as mendacious as you know they’ve been in others. If you’re still not convinced, then that means that I should take yet another look at my own views, and check them. Actually, I should always be doing that, of course. But you are a useful coarse filter.
