I get that his work isn’t valid science. I’ve been looking into Reparative Therapy and other SOCE therapies for a long time. I just don’t think driving it underground (which is what I believe the effect of this will be) is the appropriate way to counter that.

Amazon could have easily linked disclaimers to the book info. Citing the APAs stance on it, critical reviews of the material, links to PFLAG and other support groups.

Now, people looking for his books are going to get them from places like AFA or Focus on the Family or some other anti-gay site. And I guarantee those sites are NOT going to give any kind of disclaimer.

I didn’t think it was an effort to silence him just because the LBGTQ community didn’t like him or because of plagiarism. I thought it was because the ‘therapy’ itself was capable of causing great harm, especially to readers who might not have been aware of all the controversy and subsequent legislation against it. If that’s the case, then the decision to pull the books was the responsible choice.
