This letter from Bob Merritt is weak sauce. Bob Merrit was on the board of Willow Creek Association, and ever so very quietly resigned. He is still protecting Bill Hybels, having failed to even name his sexual assault and sexual harassment of too many women. I've added him to billhybelsgoodold.boys.com

“The second reason has to do with our own credibility and reputation. In the end, it would be a lot harder for us to defend why we’re hosting than it would for us to defend why we wouldn’t. It’s not an easy call either way, but we are simply not willing to risk our own reputation for the mistakes that Bill and Willow Creek made.“
What a bunch of puke.

“We are not trying to make a point”
Oh but you do...

“We are grateful for the positive impact the GLS has had on our church and churches all over the world. If the GLS can right the ship and find a new leader or greatly restored leader, we would consider hosting again.”
...and the point is.

We are spineless and unflawed, with a perfect reputation, we, unlike Bill Hybels, Willow Creek, or the GLS, are in no need of learning from our mistakes. And let that be a lesson to them all.

Hey Bill Hybels, hey Willow Creek, hey GLS, you’re never to old to learn.

Good point. And TrumpPutin, still a favorite among a statistical majority of U.S. White Evangelicals, rejects the foundational biblical principle of repentance. So I'm gonna guess Eagle Brook will not endanger their White Evangelical meal ticket.

Yes, the line, "Bill was historically a big draw for us," jumped out at me. Why in the world would this statement be part of the letter?
So the real reason is that you don't think enough people will come this year? Wow.
