Hmmm? Leadership Summit???

Seems Jesus has a unique take on “Leaders” for **His Disciples.**

“ONE”

In the Bible, Jesus taught **His Disciples,**
Do NOT be called “Leaders,” for “ONE” is your Leader, that is, Christ.
And, **His Disciples** believed, and obeyed Jesus, Because..
In the Bible, NOT one of His Disciples called them self “leader.”
NOT one of His Disciples called another Disciple, “leader.”

Mat 23:10-12 NASB
Do NOT be called leaders;
for “ONE” is your Leader, that is, Christ.
But the greatest among you shall be your “Servant”.
Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled;
and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.

Humble - a modest or low estimate of one's own importance.

Know many? any? who take the position of leader?
Or church leader? Or christian leader? Or spiritual leader?

Who are Humble?
Having a modest or low estimate of their own importance?

Jesus also taught **His Disciples**
John 5:41 - I receive *NOT* honour from men.
John 5:44 - How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another,
and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?

When someone acknowledges you as a “leader?”
Or church leader? Or christian leader? Or spiritual leader?
Are you, “Receiving Honor” from men? Oy Vey!!!
Danger, Danger...

Jesus also taught **His Disciples**
John 7:18 - He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory...
John 8:50 - And I seek not mine own glory...

When you call yourself, tell people, you’re a “leader?”
Or church leader? Or christian leader? Or spiritual leader?

Is that, “seeking your own glory?” Oy Vey!!!
Danger, Danger...

Why isn’t what Jesus taught **His Disciples** important?

Isa 3:12 KJV
...O my people, *they which lead thee*
cause thee to err,
and destroy the way of thy paths.

Isa 9:16 KJV
For *the leaders* of this people
cause them to err;
and they that are led of them are destroyed.

Personally, I think the church's obsession with "leadership" is part of the abuse problem. It leaves everyone scrambling over one another to achieve that status, leaving the lesser beings trampled into the mud.

It is interesting that Jesus didn't really talk about "leadership", except to criticise those who used it to abuse, and 'lord it over' others (Matthew 23 for example). However, he did talk a whole lot about serving, and yet there never been even one "Global Servanthood Summit". I wonder why...

All I needed to see was in the Christianity Today article referenced by Vineyard Cincinnati, that Hybels had a beach home in Michigan, a yacht, and private jet. I have no issue with an effective pastor being well paid but there is no reason for a church to fund a private jet.
