I.e. records from when the framers were actually governing and creating laws were excluded.

Simply because Warren is unfamiliar with everyone pushing a misguided view of history, doesn’t make him a hypocrite. Nor does the fact that he doesn’t have the time to go after every person who pushes a misguided view of history.
Also, the fact that Warren tends to focus on guys like Barton and Peroutka does not make him a liberal. I would say he focuses on guys like Barton and Peroutka because he is NOT a liberal. I..e he is trying to show that not all evangelical conservatives agree with twisting the facts to support a particular view.
