Apparently, First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni has emerged as the preferred successor to the president, with the full backing of her husband

This is a joke--- of course. I even doubt that El-Presidente would have done anything remotely related to what was reported in the East African newspaper. He is not that stupid...

Will the AHB play a part in the power struggle? Possibly. Bahati allegedly loathes Mbabazi, and is – as we know – rumoured to be close to 'madame'.

Gay propaganda as usual. Gay Propagandists have an incredible obssession with David Bahati (MP, Ndorwa West). The bill has since become the property of parliament supported across partylines, but the propagandists are still obssessed with one individual MP

But, 'Maazi' dearest, the 'sovereign Parliament of Uganda' seems to be giving the Bahati Bill 'the slip' at the moment. No LPAC report has broken cover even though the Bill was reintroduced to those 'animal noises' back in February.

And despite the claims (by you and others) to the contrary, the said 'sovereign parliament' has yet to make any amendments to the original draft, meaning that the Bill is still the same 'slaughter bill' as it was back in October 2009.

The Bahati Bill is just one aspect of the pointless power games that are now taking place. Everyone with more than half a brain cell understands that - and this is useful for those who are working to consign it to the scrap heap.

But the (allegedly - again, according to you, my dear 'Maazi') 'dead-on-arrival' POMB 2011 does seem to be moving forward. Mind you, I'm sure that this particular piece of proposed legislation is also a matter of concern for many ...

Not sure the 'big wigs' in the NRM will buy this, actually. Could be seen as M7 trying to keep control after has officially stepped down.

2016 is a long way off, and much could happen between now and then. especially give the 'tense' nature of UG politics just now. It might even be advantageous to Mbabazi (who is the current target of much of the intrigue) - some might on reflection prefer him to 'M7 Mark II'.

The sad thing is that these kinds of 'palace games' are of no use to ordinary Ugandans.

On the matter of the POMB 2011: two (one tokenistic, and one not-so-tokenistic) amendments appear to have been proposed / advertised by ... one D. Bahati: http://ugandaradionetwork.com/a/story.php?s=42089

Looks like the majority of MPs (i.e. those in the NRM) will accept it now ... which is perhaps somewhat worrying for non-NRMers, to say the least.

Maybe we on this blog should take a closer look at what's happening there and its possible implications for those who are 'of the political opposition'?
