According to Ssempa, “Homosexuality is the most efficient method of spreading HIV”. He made that assertion during an interview on national television… with that kind of misinformation dribbling out of his mouth, I can understand why Canyon Ridge would seek a more sensible partner in the fight against the spread of HIV.

Correction: the cash from Canyon Ridge was for fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS, rather than specifically for the relief of those infected.

(It should be noted that the recent increase in HIV transmission in UG is attributed principally to marital infidelity, not homosexuality. ‘Maazi’ and I have already agreed on this point.)

Of course, the truth is that ‘sexual dishonesty’ is the best way to transmit HIV – and one of the things that can so promote such dishonesty is … yes, that’s right, homophobia.

One might almost say that Ssempa could be regarded as an ‘HIV risk factor’!
