From the LHJ article, above: ?<blockquote>"For both liberal and conservative opponents of antigay bullying, it boils down to the issue of basic human dignity.

"As a parent, it's your responsibility to sit your kids down and explain how there are lots of different kinds of people,"... says Dr. Quasha.

"You can even say, 'In our religion, we don't really agree with this, but what we do believe is that everybody deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.'</blockquote>

I see that the pro-bullying coalition is led by a Greg Quinlan. Isn't he one of the stars of the videographic tour de force that defined your career "I Do Exist"?

Well, regardless, I am glad to see that the newly heterosexual Mr. Quinlan has found solid work, following the rapid demise of the marriage that was iniitially touted as evidence of the validity of reparative therapy.

I also note Mr. Quinlan's plan for Morality Awareness Campaign:

"The interfaith coalition has also offered a replacement campaign to the Week of Respect, called the "Morality Awareness Campaign" to teach children successful protection methods against cyber bullying. The week would emphasize parent supervision of students' Web activities, internet filters and limited access to social networking sites, Caller said."

I must be slow. I didn't think that external surveillance and filter software constituted morality awareness, but rather are tools to be employed where there is no such awareness. Well, I shouldn't quibble. It seems like a solid anti-bullying plan. All we have to do is monitor everything kids do online, tell them not to use Facebook or Twitter, and install filters that screen out any site or email that contains any insulting word. Problem solved and no need to mention sodomites. Surely this is a plan put forth by people who have a genuine, good-faith interest in ending bullying.

It all reminded me of a recently overheard statement that said the universe does not care about good or evil, but it seeks out balance. In this case one can either choose balance towards love or balance towards animosity between parents and child. What has in the past been purported to be Christian love has mostly spread animosity between a parent and their gay child. It may be a sort of balance for the parent; but for a gay child it can seem as an end, an utter lack of any balance, like fallling off a cliff.
