Ann,

Some people also believe that hurricane Katrina went to the conservative states rather than south Florida, inferring one warranted infliction because of their beliefs while the other one was saved -

This may be true, but the only time I heard comments like this is when people were parodying/making fun of Pat Robertson's comments. I think Pat was the one that started the ball rolling on who was to blame for Katrina :)

Really, Jag, we know what Robertson said but unfortunately he still carries clout with conservatives and Rudy is behind in the polls and needs that segment of the voters (obviously Clinton won't pick up that many from there). It's not about truth and principles - it's just a game or race for the presidency of the the United States - we are still very powerful and people will do a lot to wield that power.

Back in the day I suppose Pat Robertson represented most of what is good about organized religion and had a certain appeal but in recent years he has held himself up as an expert in areas that no one should and it has told on him.

Mary, Ann -

If I were Guiliani, I would literally run from this guy's endorsement...after all, he had this to say about Hurricane Katrina:

"Pat Robertson on Sunday said that Hurricane Katrina was God’s way of expressing its anger at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for its selection of Ellen Degeneres to host this year’s Emmy Awards. ‘By choosing an avowed lesbian for this national event, these Hollywood elites have clearly invited God’s wrath,’ Robertson said on ‘The 700 Club’ on Sunday. ‘Is it any surprise that the Almighty chose to strike at Miss Degeneres’ hometown?’"

Wow....and people still listen to this guy? I know this is terribly unacademic to say, but this guy is a nutjob.

Does anyone here take him seriously? If so, I'd love to know why.
